Between Biologics

Howdy,

Who has switched/is switching biologics recently? new rheum has taken me off Enbrel/MTX/Lyrica/Voltaren as I was not getting significant relief and has me just on Sulfasalazine for a few weeks. The break is supposed to be appropriate when going off one biologic and gives enough time for the insurance authorization.

Meanwhile I'm in a lot more pain, more so than when on Enbrel (used it for a year). In some ways that's encouraging since it says a biologic can work.

Is this typical?

I'm on my third biologic and most likely will be switching again next month. I never had a waiting period between them though. I always have started a new biologic around the time I was due for a dose of the previous one. That said, the problem with my current biologic, Simponi,is that for me it doesn't last the full month. And when it wears off, yep, I have more pain, and stiffness. So I know it's working for the first couple of weeks.
