Anyone tried Mobic?

I was prescribed Mobic today and was wondering if anyone had any info about it, Did it help? Side effects?

Are there any other anti-inflammatories that worked for you?

Thanks for your thoughts,

Frances

I've been on a few different ones, but never on Mobic. Right now I'm on diclofenac. . . My rheumy said that it had better pain-killing properties than some of the other NSAIDs. Some haven't really worked much, including naproxen. Yet my mom swears by it.

May as well try it, right?

Hi Frances, Yes I take Mobic daily. It is another one of those meds that I tried and didn't think it was working until I went without for 2 mos. Well, it was working for sure. I was eating 800mg Motrin like candy and the Mobic has really helped. It is much easier on the stomach and only take once a day. Hope it works for you, good luck.

Thanks Alama

I tried it when I broke my leg skiing (before PsA) and had an allergic reaction to it, so no idea if it works. Apparently I’m pretty special because there are only about 6 records in Australia of an allergic reaction to it!

Before I saw my rheumy I was on 2 Aleve twice a day. He put me on Mobic. Started out 7.5 mg daily and I could double it if I needed to. I tried going with just the one tablet, but soon realized it was never enough. I stopped taking the aleve when I started the mobic and it took several days to really work. The first few days were quite rough. It works much better than aleve. I could not function without it. I ran out at one point and it took a couple of weeks to get a refill. I was miserable! I take two 7.5 mg tablets every morning. It seems to do better for me than one tab twice a day. I am also on Azulfidine daily and hydrocodone for breakthrough pain. I stay away from other NSAIDs like ibuprophen (which used to be my favorite for normal pains and headaches...) I don't want to overdo it with the anti-inflammatories. I don't get an upset stomach, but I always try to eat before I take it. Hope this helps.

Good luck!

Hello Frances,

I have used mobic for several years now. I do not know if it really helps or not. I don't seem to have any side effects at all. All I know is that most days I am fine but now for the last two or three months I've had severe pain in my wrists. My doctor doubled my mobic but I don't feel any different. He said I might be having carpal syndrome also and something else I wasn't clear on. I had an x-ray done friday. I was not too bad during the day, but at night the pain was incredible. Wouldn't carpal tunnel hurt all the time. I am also on remicade and have been fine with it for years. I will let you know more later. I hope. If I remember.

Polk

Carpal tunnel is usually worse at night, because of the position of the wrists. That's why a lot of times people are told to wear splints at night, to keep them from curling up.

I have been on mobic for quite some time and it seems to help the inflammation. I have not had any adverse side effects.

Hi Cecilia, I've been taking Mobic for about 4 days and haven't noticed any difference. Did it take awhile for you notice the benefits? Thanks, Frances
