Anyone ever have "dessication" of the discs in your cervical spine?

Hi all, I've been dealing with neck and back pain and my rheumatologist sent me for an MRI. Her nurse told me back in October that it was all "normal" and gave the the brush off about it. I just had my big toe flare back up on me and at the same time my neck is killing me. It is so hard to get comfortable at night and when I wake up I can't stand to lay there any more, I have to get up. I made an appointment with a spine doctor to have a look and I just picked up my MRI and read the report. It said my alignment is normal and the vertebral heights are normal, but I have dessication of the discs. From googling it I gather that it can happen over time (I'm 38.) Just curious if anyone else has ever had this. I don't see the spine doc until next Friday.
