Antibiotic Protocol

I have read the book "The New Arthritis Breakthrough" I have had my 22 year old son on this regimen for 3 months now. It involves viewing arthritis as an infectious disease which can be treated by low dose pulsed antibiotics. I have spent hundreds of hours studying this and there is so much positive information out there I have to try this for him. i live in Florida but I am flying him to a specialist in California to administer the treatment. Has anybody else tried this?"

No, all of my MDs are absolutely against this, even the Chiropractor is! Should the need to be treated for an infection arise, you would be immune to that type of antibiotic. According to my Internist and my Rheumatologist, they also added that long term use of antibiotics such as ones used in these treatments (The Road Back) permanently damage the cell walls.

I will gladly give you their names and numbers if you wish to hear it from them.

The only ones I have known to resort to this treatment are those who live in countries where you have to have a positive blood test to be treated with biologics, if Methotrexate or Sulfasalazine cannot be tolerated or it just doesn't help, I suppose that they feel they have no other choice.

I will pass!

Sorry, haven't talked to a single medical professional who is for this treatment!

My physicians are all against this too. I see a Rheumatologist at UVM. She is available to consult also. Be very careful about any "new" sciences, there is usually a reason no one is doing it. While guttate psoriasis can be started by an untreated strep infection after the initial infection is cleared there is no reason to continue with antibiotics. Have your son be seen at a University Rheumatologist to get him the best care available.

My Rheumatologist teaches labs at Univ of WV. He has NOTHING good to say about this treatment!

Its been around since the 1930's . The fact is the studies have shown that in the case of RA there is a very short window of opprtunity where minocycline treatment is effective in a small portion of patients. Its so small and the window of opportunity so small that the treatment is statitically so insignificant that serious studies stopped in 1995. The road back started several years later. They have suceeded in turning a lot of people blue and little else. I understand wanting to do for your son but seiously you can do better. Don't confuse RA with PsA or reactive arthritis.

I have heard there is a Pharmacy run by a former regional pharmacist for wal mart right behind the lquor store on the cruise ship dock in Belize who can set you up for about thirty bucks. She may have a website. Just remember the results of not working will leave you blue (actually you will be blue if it works) a shredded immune system and high probability you will die from flesh eating bacteria because you won't be able to take tetracycline type antibiotics.

You need to add a fair bit of reverse research to a clear idea of whats going on. (Start with thecdrugs) Also avail youself of a real lmedical library. You will not get clean research on the internet.

O

Oh I know lamb, the internet is so flooded with 'The Road Back' you cannot even get to the true facts!

I read this. It was an interesting thought, but I agree, the science supporting it was minimal. It feels similar to the idea of chronic Lyme disease, in my book. We can't find anything because it's hiding. So we'll treat you for years, and it will work. What? And since it's been around for so many years, why are so few doctors willing to entertain the idea?
