What are you thankful for?

I know this disease sucks! It is hard to come to grips that this is a chronic illness with chronic pain, some deformity and other things. But let’s sit back and think about what we are thankful for…
I am thankful I can see
I have clean running water
I have food to eat
I have a place to call home and a bed to sleep in
I have family
I have a motorized scooter and other devices so I can go and see and do things
I can move, yes with pain at times but I can move
I have a church family
I have passionate doctors and medicine to help me
I have learned to say no so I have the energy to do things
I have a job, not a paying job but a job as a mother, sister, wife and daughter

What are you thankful for?

I'm thankful for every step I'm able to take.

I'm thankful for every minute of sleep I get.

I'm thankful for a supportive family and caring friends.

I'm thankful for our upcoming trip to PA to visit my in-laws for Thanksgiving - it's one of my favorite holiday traditions, even if it entails a nine hour drive.

I'm thankful for the awesome person who sent me smartCRUTCHes...and for my entire collection of mobility devices.

I'm thankful for music that lifts my spirit and words that nurture my soul.

I'm thankful for little babies to cuddle and toddlers who provide endless entertainment just by being themselves.

I'm thankful for medicines, supplements, and alternative treatments.

I'm thankful for the Living with PsA community, the Mindful Village community, and Monkees everywhere.

I'm thankful for unschooling, for homeschool co-op, and museum/aquarium/science center memberships.

I'm thankful for the chaos that is my life.

what a great post!

Yep I’m thankful for the above mentioned things and also I’m so thankful for my sense of humour…even if it does get me into trouble

I'm thankful for Netflix, an internet connection, a heating pad, a hot cup of tea, gluten-free ginger cookies, a warm dog, central heating, a wood-burning fireplace, flexible work hours and a very understanding and loving partner.

Loved your response janestiu

I'd be thankful if janeatiu posted her GF Ginger Cookie recipe

easy. go to local co-op. Buy Mi-del brand ginger snaps with blue top (GF). GF GingerSnaps. I have a GF parkin (northern English gingerbread) recipe if you're a ginger fan. I'll post to blog later.

I am thankful I get to read more books, watch more movies, do more craft and paint my art. Without PsA I would not have allowed myself that much time to indulge in the things I love to do. I have turned my time out into something enjoyable. I am thankful for all the young back-packer travellers who come and stay at my home and help me out in return for bed and breakfast and are willing to do the things that I can't manage. We share our different cultures and I have companionship for a while and I am thankful for these experiences in my life. I am sure I would not have done all this if I did not have PsA and needed to adapt my life.

In reference to the gf ginger cookies, I'm also thankful for Pamela's gf ginger cookies and Dee's One Smart Cookie gf/df bakery, especially their pumpkin cupcakes with maple frosting, which are absolutely the best cupcakes I've eaten in my life.

LOVE your response, bella. One of the blessings of PsA for me is that it slowed me down and opened my eyes to lots of the joys in life I was missing.

Bella - What an amazing experience you are living!

I am thankful for:

my amazing husband who has taken on so much with my PsA diagnosis - he is my very best friend and takes amazing care of me and our family

my beautiful sons (who are mostly helpful)

my husband's awesome telecommuting job

my awesome mostly work-from-home job (there is no way I could still be a classroom teacher)

homeschooling - the flexibility it offers (mom can't get out of bed to get you to school at 8am? no worries!) and amazing homeschool friends, park days and co-op (nym - such a gift, isn't it?!)

my comfort items - Old Navy yoga pants, the lap quilt a lovely friend made for me in happy colors and patterns, coffee with soy creamer, lots of fluffy pillows

our church family, worship music that reminds me that I don't carry these burdens alone

a great team of doctors that are super responsive via email

my parents

a warm home, access to healthy food, a safe car

I really have so much to be thankful for. I am so blessed.

I am thankful for the resilience of my daughter, who has moved home and is trying......

.....to find a way to live with chronic pain at the age of 21.

I often just don't know what to do or say - we just keep trying new ideas. Today, we are brewing poppy seeds on the stove to make some kind of poppy seed brew.

Thanks for being here - it is good for me to read your thoughts.

Happy Thanksgiving!
