Weird thing happened last night - is it PsA?

Hi guys,
Really weird thing happened to me about 6 hours ago… I woke up in the middle of the night from a really deep sleep (on temazepam) because my knee felt like it was on fire and on the inside part of my knee was a red patch of skin that felt really hot to touch… It felt like a red hot poker was inside my knee. Is this a PsA thing? I have never had this happen before, does it mean the PsA is getting worse? Anyway, I put an ice pack on it straight away and about 20mins later I fell asleep again and woke up with it completely normal. Oh and when it happened, my knee felt so stiff I couldn’t straighten it. Was so weird. I tried to take a photo of the red patch but it didn’t turn out very good cuz I was half asleep! Lol thanks for listening guys, if any of you have had this happen before I would love to hear about it! Thanks guys xox

It doesn't necessarily mean that it's worse. This type of migratory pain can be intense and temporary. My doctor explained to me that she worries more when inflammation settles into a joint and sticks around, as this is when damage occurs. I'm not sure if that helps, but I know that I found it oddly reassuring. So I deal with these sudden things and hope they pass quickly, but with less worry anyway.

Cool thanks Stoney, I was worried at the time, but when I woke up and it was gone I was relieved that it was just temporary.

A burning pain is something that I’ve often had in various locations. I get sharp burning painf in my ankle, and a lot of the time my feet ache and burn. I’ve often complained of my feet being on fire. Now whether your burning stab is a PsA thing is anybody’s guess. Who knows what soft tissue PsA swelling, and the pressure it might put on things like nerves, might feel like!
Like Stoney says, I wouldn’t worry too much about pains that are transient.

Thanks seenie, yeah, I’m not too worried since it went away so quickly… I didn’t know if it was the PsA or a Mtx SE… Either way, it’s not bothering me now  thanks guys xox

Gosh no, I doubt that would be a MTX SE.

I agree with Stoney and Seenie, if the pain is not something your feeling on a regular basis then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Not all our aches and pains has to be related to PsA, although often times it may feel that way. I have been fortunate or stubborn enough not to take any kind of sleep aid or pain meds before going to bed, the first several minutes in bed, my body screams at me and it takes a little bit of time to adjust to all my aches but once I do, sleep usually isn't much of a problem, finding the right position is the biggest problem at night. Like you, I have also been awoken many times during the night with an intense pain in different parts of my body, usually in the morning its gone and I carry on with my day and chalk it up to creeks and groans of an aging body. Wishing you all the best!

I get the same redness with flares
Occasionally. I have pictures too.
I keep a journal and photos for my
Visits to my rheumy as I only see her
Every three months. This started prior
To the MTX.

Thanks everyone xox

I don't know about what happened to you specifically. I do know that with PsA it seems the pain can sometimes seem to come out of no where and disappear just as quickly. I've had a burning feeling before but I'm not sure if my skin was red.
