What to do - need to whine a bit. Don't like doing it at home with the kids around. I have been controlling my psa with indomethacin, methetrexate and diet - and for months doing great as long as I stay away from the foods that I discovered were my triggers. I know that if I eat a potato I will ache in my hands, peppers hit me everywhere, gluten is never good etc. I tried dairy this weekend and am paying for it. Family took me out for Indian food and I tried to avoid peppers and dairy but couldn't and now I am in so much pain in my thoracic spine tears roll down my cheek that I can't control. I know it will subside in a couple of days - but for today I want a hug and quite frankly - an instant cure! I am not allowed to come work if I take narcotics - my boss is a recovering addict and he can tell and has banned me from the office if I take narcotics - but I don;t get paid if I am not here. So hear I sit - at a desk with a nasty flare up and tears every time I move. Last night while watching tv with the family - on an ice pack and having taken extra pain pills - I started to moan if I took a deep breathe or moved and my son couldn't take hearing me in pain and begged me to go to bed. I would love to see my rheumy - but by the time I get an appointment it will be gone - just need a hug or if anyone has tips on easing the pain in the spine for a day or so - please send them along.
I take a hot bath (as hot as I can stand) with epsom salt or a whirl pool if I can get there. I then put Salonpas pads where I am having the flair or inflamed tendon or a heating pad. I then position myself in bed with my head and feel elevated making a "V" with my bottom being the bottom of the "V". I then read, watch TV or listen to music. I hope this helps, I will send you hugs and prayers.
Awwwwww, I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly, Nicole! How awful to have so much pain from food. I'm sorry that I don't have any suggestions for you but just wanted to empathize and send a HUG your way today.
I hope this awful flare passes for you and you can get back to work soon.
Do those Salonpas pads actually work? I've seen them advertised a lot but never considered using them. However if they do work, I'd love to try them.

I find they work well for "spots" of inflammation like bursitus or tendonitis. They have a topical anti-inflammatory and warm the area with camphor and menthol. They aren't expensive so at times I use them liberally!

finally some relief - when food is the trigger the pain is intense but it never lasts too long. Still tender to the touch but I can function again. thank you to everyone who offered support and hugs when I really needed them.
I have found the Salonpas patches helpful! no major miracles, but if there I have pain in spots like my back, knees, or shoulders I apply one or two and almost always get relief. doesnt work as well long term but i do like them for a little “quick” fix
