Thought I'd just report that I'm finally seeing some change and some progress. My feet had been going downhill for several years, until I was diagnosed with PsA last fall. Months of methotrexate, sulfasalazine and hydroxychloroquine didn't do a thing for me. My rheumatologist finally prescribed Arava. A couple of weeks ago, after four months on Arava, she felt my joints and said "I think we're seeing improvement." I wasn't sure, but two weeks later, indeed, my feet no longer feel like they are packed with glass shards. They are still achy and tender, but I can now walk a lot more comfortably than I have for a long time. But a little improvement is better than none.
The bad news for me is that Arava is so toxic, and she made a point of repeating the "you CANNOT have ANY alcohol " mantra. Oh, for even half a glass of wine with my dinner. :-( A little of that would be better than none as well.
Sorry!!! There's a bottle of hard cider in my fridge mocking me. My husband better drink it tonight. I'm going to buy some apple cider at the farm stand tomorrow and bring it home and make mulled cider (non-alcoholic) to sip while curled up in bed watching a movie. Mmmmm...
