Should I or Shouldn't I go back on Remecade

Back in 2007 I was taken off Remecade because of an infection. Was also told I couldn't be on any biologics again. It would be to dangerous for me. Now I'm being told its ok to be on them. The infection caused my back to spasm. Each time I would talk I would have another. If you have never had a spasm. It is one of the worst pains you could have. You can't stop them. You have to grit and bare it and pray it would be over soon. My delima: should I go back on them or not. I would like to hear from you on your thought about this.

5 yrs offa Remicade?..How is your quality of life?......I had pnuemonia in 2007, and afterwards ( hospital adm. isolation room)..had many visits with infectious disease doc ( no TB), pulmanary doc, PCP, rheummy. And many cat scans of lungs

I was on Humira

That was so long ago, but i an thinking after a month, i was able to restart Humira

I have Degenerative Disc Disease..trouble with L4-5, S1...I have had about dozen epidurals, pain relief injections int he spine, Sciatica pain also....

I am sorry you have back spasms. I know how it feels. A lot of them are from facet arthritis, bulging discs, and herniated disks, but stenosis of the spine would cause a lot of this

You might look into epidurals for back trouble. I see you are in Jamaica?..Also, sometimes a back brace helps

take care

All the hobbies I had can't do anymore. Can't drive because I'm on morphine 2 kinds. My husband works 12hr shift and daughter is in college so I'm home alone alot. I only had spasms when I had the infection. I also have diskitis in the L4-5.I've had injections but no epidurals. Could look into that.I'm not sure whether I should go back on Remecade since it caused the infection. I don't live in Jamaca though. I live in Tennessee. How did Humaria work for you. Did it take away the pain and slow down the progression? Thanks for your comment.

Hi again..

after 5 yrs, and wkly Humira towards the end, Humira konked out for me

Then we did a year of Rituxan, did nothing, 2 sets of infusions...6 months aprt, maybe 5 months

and sed rate went up

then 18 months of double dose Enbrel, when i got PSA....have RA also

changed rheummy, #8, and skin doc, and got diagnosed with pustular psoriasis

see, it's all so differant for each of us, There are differant kinds of psoriasis, and they say many types of Rheumatoid arthritis ..Mtx agrees with me, and helps,a nd when i am offa it, all hell breaks out...but i stilll need a biolgic with mtx

so many new meds, Simponi, Orencia injections, and infusions, a choice between you and rheummy

everyone responds differant....find a good rheummy, and discuss all options,

good luck....BTW, i just got results of my latest sed.rate labwork...a measly 14.....awesome, thanks to Remicade

I do have past damage, i'm in my 60's, like shoulder inpingement, a little deformity in hands, but as long as i am outta pain, thats the whole thing

good luck!..if i am in a controlled remission ( from meds)i mean i have knee replacements..i don't take pain meds..I use Norco, and haven't had one in months..and i take Celebrex
