Psoriasis flare since on new heart meds

I’m just wondering if anybody has had trouble with psoriasis flaring because of meds they’re on. It seems ever since I’ve been on some new meds for coronary blockage in August some psoriasis has flared up mostly on my right leg. The meds are Crestor for cholesterol, Metropolol for blood pressure, 81 mg aspirin, Plavix for platelets. The psoriasis is really red and sometimes sore and itchy and covers almost half my leg from my knee down. I’ve continued to use betamethasone, sparingly, and some lotion to keep my skin from drying out, but nothing seems to make it any better. I don’t want to suggest any changes in meds to my heart doctor unless I have a good argument to do so. I’ll try to attach a picture. Any ideas?

I

can’t figure out how to attach a picture, but I’m sure most of you get the picture–psoriasis is ugly and my leg happens to be ugly right now.

Hi Grandma_J. Re. attaching a picture, have you tried the upward-pointing arrow on the tool bar at top of the box we type in?

You know my story about psoriasis and drugs I think - my psoriasis went mental because I stopped Mtx. I wonder if it’s the case that any change of drugs - starting or stopping - has the potential to trigger psoriasis?

I guess it’s going to be difficult for you and your heart doctor to decide which if any meds to change unless one of them has a definite bad rep. for making psoriasis flare. If I ever had to stop Mtx again for some reason and had the same horrible response as before, I’d be holding on to the hope that my body would eventually adjust and the P flare would die down.

It’s a real bummer, looking out for your heart is probably the most important thing, but wouldn’t it be nice to get away scott-free for once, without any unfortunate knock-on effects?

Ok there are my hideous legs–at least my right leg looks awful. Has anybody had this happen from a med? The psoriasis has flared really bad in my right leg over the past few months. Interestingly, I’ve been on 3 new meds for about 3 months! To me it almost looks like my skin is breaking down in some spots!!! Yikes!

Not seeing it. If you can send the pic to me I’ll have a go … my device might work better for images or something …

Did you scroll up, Sybil? It found a different location!

LOL, sorry Grandma_J!

I don’t think they look hideous, I’ve never thought psoriasis looks too bad though. However your pins are very much like mine were last year so now I know what it actually feels like, horrible. I had a patch that seemed to go quite deep, I thought it would either never heal or scar quite badly but neither happened, the skin is normal now. I would slather that in a good emollient morning and night. Otherwise stumped I’m afraid. Are you sure your heart doc won’t be able to suggest anything?

Thank you, Sybil. I guess it could be worse. I’m almost sure one of the new meds is causing this, but the meds are so important and if it is a SE from one of them I shouldn’t complain or worry because I don’t get any other SEs from them and I’m sure they’re helping to keep me alive!
If Enbrel typically relieves 75% of psoriasis and PsA, then I guess that’s most of my 25% remaining psoriasis. I only have a little more on the back of my leg and my elbows, which aren’t nearly as inflamed.
I’ve cut back on the prescription betamethasone and increased the Gold Bond lotion, and I’m hoping that helps eventually.
