Let's welcome Bocarat from DC

@Bocarat

Hi there, Bocarat

We’re glad that you found our PsA clubhouse. Don’t mind the sounds of creaking, it’s not the floorboards, it’s us. Your profile is interesting: you’ve had this disease for a long time, and you’ve tried many therapies so you’ll have lots to share with us!

I see you are a painter and a gardener. One of our moderators, Sybil, is a painter as well: you’ll have to compare notes. We also have lots of gardeners here so you are in good company.

This is pretty friendly group, and we’re happy to have you join us. Please give us a wave :wave: and say hello!

Thank you for the welcome. I was diagnosed with PsA in 1998. Probably before anyone knew about this disease. I was on a waiting list for two years before given Embrel (after using the anti-inflammatory drugs alone with Methotrexate for the first two years). Since then, we tried Humira that I found to be the best that helped with swelling and pain. The hands and feet were the biggest of my problems, but hips and spine was also affected. The Psoriasis was totally gone, which was a blessing but after ten years on Humira the docs wanted me to switch, they told me that after long periods of use, it stops working like it should, so we tried Simponi, Remicade and Cimza. All of the meds seem to control the pain but there has been some side effects which made me discontinue some of them. To date I am on Cosentyx which I’ve been taking since last year. Last month Methotrexate was added to the mix, which I doubt will help, but we will see. I don’t think that everyone has this problem. So all I can say is that every day they are coming up with new things which help us and I for one will hold out for the next one which is best suited for me. Believe me, having this disease has really changed my way of thinking, I try to have a positive attitude, listen to the doctor, and live my life with support groups like this one. I fill my day with painting and tending to the plants in my home. I have four daughters who have blessed me with 19 grand kids 2 of which are great grand kids. I wish the best for all of you, it has been a long road for me, but I am still here. Thank you for listening to me, and I hope you all have a pain free day!
