Daughter just called from dermatology clinic and Enbrel has been approved! Today I will get my TB test read and I know it's good. BUT, I'm so mad there's a damn deer tick attached to me so embedded that we weren't able to get its dumb head out! On top of it I didn't think to take photos until after we broke the tiny body off and couldn't find it on the tweezer..... Isn't it great I'm going in anyway today so doc can now take care of two things. I'm sure I'll be on an antibiotic for this stupid tick bite. I guess it's OK cuz I doubt we'll get started on the Enbrel for a couple weeks anyway.
Great news about the biologic, shame about the tick, little blighter!
TB test, tick.
Enbrel approval, tick.
Doctor’s appointment, tick.
Tick. OH NO!
Woohoo about the Enbrel - GREAT news!!!
Sorry about the tick. I'm in CT, and we do tick checks every time we go outside. There were a crazy number of them a couple weeks ago.
I bet that ticked you off.
I can’t remember where I was reading it, but it’s less bad to leave the head in then to squeeze the tick while attempting removal. Lovely thought, huh? But very reassuring to me, as I’m horrible at getting them out in one piece.
Congrats on Enbrel! I’ve been on it for almost four months now.
Yes, it did tick me off haha! And they don't take its head out. She told me to just leave it -but just apply hot compresses and take doxycycline for 10 days. So, after that's all finished I'm hoping to start the Enbrel on Friday, June 27. I'm going on a week's vacation starting July 5, so hoping that one week of Enbrel is sufficient for me to get used to it before vacation. I'm sort of debating whether I should wait until after vacation to start it but I'm sick of putting this off. I guess if it doesn't agree with me that first week, I would be afraid to take it Friday the 4th and start vacation on Saturday....my daughter and I are driving a long way and I can't handle feeling super tired or ill while driving so far. Any suggestions????? Also, Ooops we went against doctors orders--my younger daughter just couldn't leave her hands off the tick head. She said it looked like a blackhead and she was compelled to squeeze it out! 'Cept it didn't come out!!!
The Doxy is likley to bother you more that the Enbrel. Seriously. Its sort of a non-event except I kid you not as I was going back to my office after my first shot I could actually feel the P stop itching. Its not like the MTX and such that has other effects.

I’d just start it, holiday or not, GrandmaJ! The worst that is likely to happen is … NOTHING. And you will go on vacation with a feeling of optimism.
I’m sure your doc will say the same, but maybe check with him/her anyway.
Congrats! I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Normally, the first shot is done in the office.
The ticks are THICK this year. We went camping a few weeks ago,and the seed ticks were incredible. Tick checks every night for a week after we came back.
Congrats on your Enbrel. I hope it’s THE one for you for a good long while.
Can I introduce a tick associated subject, please. Here in the UK, tick transmitted Lyme Disease is on the increase and I'm sure I've read about a connection with this and the same symptoms as arthropathies. I'd like to understand more if anyone has anything to share.
There is plenty to be said, Jules. Why not start a new thread..........
Have done, thanks Lamb.
