So I had surgery 3 days ago. Both were on my left hand - trigger finger release on my thumb and release of tendons at my wrist to resolve Dequervains. It was a quick surgery and tomorrow I’ll take off the bandages.
My plan is to do it again in a few months on the right hand, just the wrist tendon release (already did the trigger on the thumb). The bad news is that I’m off my biologic right now, and my SI joints are letting me know.
Hope your recovery goes well. I don’t know anything about Dequervains, will this surgery help with mobility / pain?
Sorry to hear you’re a bio-free zone at the moment, hope normal service is resumed soon. I love your matter-of-fact attitude, should I ever need a similar procedure I’ll tell myself “well Stoney breezed through it …”.
Not mobility, but pain. I took off the bandages earlier and am just in bandaids now. It’s a bit easier to use my hand, but need to make sure that I’m keeping the load light, both in terms of carrying as well as amount of force. Otherwise, not too bad.
Seems like it went well if you’re already considering the other hand. Hope you get back up to speed soon. I’ve been developing a couple of trigger fingers but there’s no pain associated so I’m leaving it all alone!
I last injected 1.5 weeks before surgery. I think the surgeon would have liked a whole 2 weeks, but with my injection schedule that would have been 2.5 weeks. That was just too long.
Now that I’ve got all of the bandanging and splint off, I can use my hand somewhat comfortably. I just need to keep things light. The incision from the trigger thumb is probably the more troublesome one because of the location, but I already had that done on the other hand. That means that if/when I do the release on the right wrist it will be just that.
Sounds like things are going pretty well, Stoney. Thank goodness you didn’t have to be off the bio for months before! That would have made for a really difficult time.
Good luck with the rest of the healing and then next procedure.
