I've been on Enbrel for about 5 months. I feel like it's losing its effectiveness. The doc added prednisone to take for 1 month. I don't feel any better. I see him in 3 days. I don't know whats next. I hope not MTX again. Maybe it's just a flare. Ouch.
Sometimes it is just a flare, other times it needs adjusting. Enbrel is a fairly fast acting drug and moves out of you system pretty quickly. There is plenty your Doc can do.....He and increase the frequency to twice weekly (I prefer every 5 days but thats because it IS working for me and actually forget to take it so if the day of the month ends in 5 or zero, I shoot) Some have split the dose into 2 - 25 Mg doses.
Predi is a funny thing. A four day burst at 20mg helps me a regular taper pack does nothing but uincrease trhe grocery bill.
There are distinct different causes of pain with PsA Synovitis is handled quickly with preid but if is enthesitis, Dactylitis etc not so much Its at this point we usually play with the NSAIDs a bit. They TOO lose effectiveness. I'd ask about that at your appointment.
To many one of the most difficult things about PsA is learning to "name the pain" Once you do you can become deadly. I've named mine Predi Pain, TENS Pain, Exercise and stretch pain (E &S for short) torodol pain, flector pain and very occasionally "all of the above pain" which leads to all of the above AND and an "evening in the hot tub with tody pain"
