Amitriptyline + sleep!

Hi folks,

I take Amitriptyline to help me get to sleep at night and with nerve problems. Over the last few years i've been getting sleep paralysis and I wondered if its linked to the amitriptlyine and if anyone else has had any problems I've researched sleep paralysis so I know what it is but my Dr upped my dosage at night and the last week or so I've had them about 5 times, even though I know what they are they freak me right out so am not getting a full nights sleep. But just wondered if anyone else had any other experiences with the drug?

Hi, Cathie. I’m glad you’ve joined us, but sorry you’ve had to. Amitriptyline is a good drug for sleep and anxiety, and I used it that way many years ago. As for the paralysis, I don’t know … you really should ask your doc or your chemist about that. It’s frightening, isn’t it? My DH suffered from that for several years. Scary. But then suddenly, it stopped happening.
