Afraid of Commitment

So, I have a new dermatologist. She looked at my nails and hiney and was like "Yeah, this is psoriasis and you have psoriatic arthritis. Why is your rheumatologist so afraid of commitment?" LOL

Dang, I am so glad to finally be out of DX purgatory.

Congratulations, Mimi my friend! It sounds like you have struck it lucky with a straight-shooting, down to earth dermatologist. You knew knew all along, though, that PsA was the prime suspect. Still, having a more certain diagnosis makes it that much easier to take decisive action.

You're making progress now!

Yes, fortunately my waffling rheumatologist is taking action on my “non specific” problem.

That’s really great!

Yay!! It's great to have a doctor who agrees with you!!

That's great... please tell us what they prescribed for your "hiney". I have my annual follow up this month and would like to suggest something to my doctor.

MTX seems to help some and my rheumy prescribed me Fluocinide which has been useless. Over the counter Hydrocortisone works better. My primary physician had prescribed me Betamethasone, which had worked well, but wasn't given to me after my last appointment.

The only other thing I can say, is that the ocean (salt water) seems to be the best thing for my plaques and rash.

Be well!

Triamcinolone cream is what she prescribed. I have also used Balmex with good success. As a mother of four, I found it was excellent for all kinds of diaper rash, so I thought, why not?

Please be careful as to not go into ocean waters with any open lesions. Necrotizing fasciitis is a real thing and absolutely horrible!! I know it's trendy really big right now in our Southern regions, ie Gulf of Mexico. I love walking in waters that I can see my feet in, but pretty much keep open lesions on my ankles, so I try to stay away from the beach all together to avoid temptation.
