Welcome Badfeet! Do your feet hurt?

Thanks for the croc tip Seenie. I wear Dansko, Birkenstock, etc. I have tried crocs but needed more support as I am on my feet a good amount of the day. I am a hair stylist. I love it but PsA doesn’t go very well with my job. Three days ago I woke up with my pinky finger hurting at the mid joint and now it won’t straighten. This is a problem! Ugh.
So sorry you lost your heart dog. I had one of those soul mate heart dogs. We lost him to kidney issues. He was a red Britnay. Funny as a dog could get . He reminded us of Kramer from the Seinfeld sitcom.
Now we have two more. One red on brown. The brown one is calm and sweet. The red and white one (I swear they are part Vizsla somewhere in their genetics) she is bossy, loud, somewhat destructive but super smart. It’s a shame she is only a dog, I think she is smarter than my real children. Ha!

Ok, I’m off to work. You have a wonderful day!

Hairdressing! Oh my, that is at least as bad as teaching, which is what I did. Oweeeee… at least in teaching the option of sitting exists. Except, what about those rolly saddle seats? Could you use one of those? And styling hair with a bad finger must be awful. I’m so sorry.

Looking at your profile (Note to readers: see it by clicking on LittleBitTexas’s “L” avatar) I can’t tell how long you’ve been diagnosed. Are you still taking MTX? Any discussion of a biologic? It sounds to me as if you might need something more powerful than MTX on its own. What’s your rheumatologist saying about the shape you’re in?

LOL!!! I spit out my coffee a bit on “Being conceived in Canada…”

I loved this thread! I laughed a lot. You guys and gals are the best.
I agree with @tntlamb dealing with hands and feet are just dealing with tires. It doesn’t help that they hurt. My rheumy referred me to a foot specialist to deal with the inflammation in my foot and plantar fasciitis. He is a great doctor but likes to put my foot in a boot anytime there is an issue. That’s very convenient. Of course the pain has not gone away and now I have a tendon popping out of place, but who am I to complain. I’ll deal with that soon.

I also have to keep my heals in check or they split open. It’s a fine line of lotions, creams, filing, and proper shoe wear. Also orthotics.
I went to the beach last week and I was so happy about the sand! Nature’s file!! Of course walking through the sand is another thing altogether!!

The best thing I found is a Dremel. It’s a small sanding device with a head about an inch. You have to do it slowly or it will burn your skin off but it’s the quickest and most effective way I found. I use it on my toes that are affected to reduce the thickness so I can cut them and so they don’t curl. And I use it on my heels in the bottom of my feet to get rid of the excess skin.

Hey FritosMom! I have a friend with a dremel that she used for her dog (now, sadly, gone). There’s an idea, I’ll ask to borrow hers. My feet are getting dry and callous-y again. Winter’s coming … Thanks for the tip.

So your profile says you were recently diagnosed and taking SSZ. That was in September. Any change? Progress? On to the next med?

I wonder if it will work on belly fat that I might accumulate during hibernation coming up?

Thank you! We used that on our doggies nails. Really helps. I will have to look into it. I’m pretty sure my husband could use a go with it!!

Now that’s a million dollar idea! Lol.

Yeah they tried the methotrexate and I lost about half my hair. So he lowered the dosage back on that, kept me on the sulfasalazine and I just started humira for the first time today, I will let you know. The sulfasalazine and the methotrexate I didn’t have any symptoms other than the hair loss. From what I have found I don’t think Humira does that but we shall see
