My Dr wants me to try Methotrexate...I have read horrible things about the side effects...has anyone had a good experience?

How are you doing Ann? Hope that you are feeling better.

Thanks SK. Feeling good. Did 2nd dose of MTX. My biggest complaint is my stomach just not feeling normal. Really no appetite for. 2 days. Guess that will help my diet. Lol. Not really keeping from doing things. My doc says I have to increase a month to 5 tab. And eventually 6. She is very understanding and knows I am afraid of this med. so taking it very slow. So far so good. Hoping it stays that way. Just a hard decision. My only joint pain is in my hands. But it is significant. I have no idea if this will get worse if I don’t treat it. Found out my back pain is not joint pain. But muscular. I do battle fatigue with the PsA. Wish I Knew how this disease will progress for me… My doc wants me to treat it I feel guilty. My joint pain is not nearly as bad as many on here. I am treating mine in hopes I don’t get worse. Hope everyone feeling good today. Beautiful summer day here in upstate ny…

Hi Ann,

Beautiful here in Western MD today too.

Some of the people who take MX have had to get over nausea, most do get past it, some have been on it for a long time with good results.

This disease can take you down hard and fast, and you just never know when. Glad your back is okay, know that this can also attack all connective tissue, not just bone, remember that you will need your hands, we take them for granted until they hurt and become inflexible.

I lost my appetite on this, the only thing that was tasting good to me for a while were milkshakes, it was like the pregnancy crave, had to be chocolate marshmallo ice cream too! My poor husband make sure I had a steady supply of it too. LOL!! Seven weeks later, I am on Enbrel, eating more normally, but the milkshakes still taste good! LOL!! I do not eat nearly as many of them, and the vitamins kept me going.

Don't feel guilty that yours was found early, or that you are not as bad as some, you have it, and surely you suffer. There are different kinds of PsA and not all target the back, some go for the hands, so by all means, take the meds, if this doesn't work, you're off to the next.

Come back here when you need us, we are all here for each other, and it is not all complaining, much can be learned here. I will talk to you anytime.

Be well, be happy,

SK
