Golfnut is in the same blast of arctic air that I am. Canada, The Great White North!

Kiwi writer - I’m in montreal so we don’t have the fun stuff you’re mentioning - all we get is snow and raccoons! 5th injection done - eyes still red (must go to docs) but psa much much better! Went to the gym yesterday for the first time in a long time. Have also given up bread and carbs (which I absolutely love) and have to say that although I regularly fantasise about toast, sandwiches, mashed potatoes, I am feeling much better for not eating them!

Hi Golfnut,

So pleased your PsA is on the improve….. such great news… but sorry you have to look at life through rose tinted eyes..

Oh dear.. bread, carbs, mashed potatoes …oh my…. All my favourite food. Isn't it bad enough that my body is covered in red scales and my ankles and knees wobble? But to give up carbs… that will be tough one… but, one that I am willing to try…

Snow and raccoons.. sounds quite wonderful… Fur hoodies and lace up boots!!! I am off to South Carolina in a couple of weeks… and up to the mountains …. trout fishing I am told…. Looking forward to some greenery.. California is a little on the dry side.

Cheers

Well have had a good few weeks but now the pain is back in my wrist and hand! Does this mean the mtx is not working?? I can’t figure it out - thought if it worked, it worked … Next rheumy appointment end of march so will see what he says in the 5 minutes that he appears to allot me for my appointment!

Hi Golfnut,

Sorry to hear the pain has returned in your wrist and hand. Hope the snow is melting up your way..

Cheers

No chance! Snow will be here for at least another month!!! Hope you’re still enjoying your trip and not suffering too much! Are you in South Carolina yet??? Does your arthritis feel better in the heat??

I am still in sunny California.. can't believe it is wintertime.. amazing.. Off to SC on the 12th.

My PsA is about the same.. managing the occasional walk along the Ventura waterfront.. my psoriasis is pretty awful and painful.. looking forward to an appt with the Rheumy in a few months when I get back to NZ.. My PsA does not seem to be affected by the weather.. or maybe it does.. hard to tell when I live under blue skies every day..

Golfnut’s right about another month of winter. The amount of snow and texture of it is just like what we have in early February. By early March we often start seeing the edges of the lawn peeking out. Yep … we ain’t done yet.
Golfnut, symptoms come and go. Just because your wrist is complaining again doesn’t mean that MTX isn’t working. It becomes a matter of having more good days than bad days, not having all good days. Wish it weren’t so!

Thanks for clarifying that seenie! I mistakenly thought if it worked, it worked - god how depressing is that?? Reckon it will be a good month before I see any grass here - it’s been a long depressing winter but forecast is PLUS five for Tuesday -'looking for my bikini first thing tomorrow …

Hi All,

Talk about ups and downs. .. I had to laugh today… I was walking from the car, carrying at least 8 bags of groceries in lightweight plastic bags.... across the street to my daughter's house in Ventura… quiet street… not much traffic… and suddenly my ankle gave way and I sprawled out across the street - bags and groceries flying everywhere…

I quickly looked up and down the street…not for traffic (which would have been a nightmare) but to see if anyone saw me…. I quickly picked up the groceries … stuffed them into the silly bags.. grabbed the handles and stood upright and continued across the street…

I blamed myself for wearing sandals with no ankle support… Now.. if I was wearing my sneakers.. I would have been fine…

I am having a psoriasis flareup.. ..really depressing waking every morning to aching body and sore skin..

I was watching a TV show … a large group was outside dressed to kill in summer dresses and champagne… their arms were bare.. their backs were bare… I felt sad that my body is covered in red nasty sores.. even in the summer.. I have to wear long sleeved tops and long skirts or jeans…

Can't wait to have my first appoint with my rheumy… I live in hope that I will be able to wear sleeveless tops - first time in twenty five years…

Now how is that for a big fat…. MOAN…

Sorry you are all suffering in the cold…. Hope golfnut you post your bikini photo tomorrow….

Oh no that’s horrible - at least you could see the funny side of it though ! I’m sure once you get started with the rheumy you’ll be flaunting your psoriasis-free skin for all to see. I live in jeans but a nice maxi dress with a light cardigan might be an option if you’re feeling left out!!

Have looked out bikini but unless I miraculously drop 10 pounds before Tuesday and manage to turn from pasty white flaky skin to golden brown glistening, don’t think anybody would want to see a photo - now if only I could master photo-shop …
