Lowest of the low

It really does take time and a bit of experimentation to find the correct meds for depression. Most take at least 4 weeks to see full effect, and then at that point see if you need more. I've tried 3 different ones before I got to the one I take now, and more dosage changes too. HANG IN THERE! Your up and down managing then falling apart is exactly how I feel when my depression has free reign.

The things with "depression" is that about the only "therapy" that helps when the cause is an underlying disease is Cognitive Therapy. Seeking out a specialist is critical. you can talk about it till the cows come home, but until you are able to make life style changes to adapt to the new you, not much will change.

This is so very true. My therapist focused on changing the way I think about many things. It was amazing how I was able to change the thoughts that were causing me the most pain. He also encouraged behavioral changes and gave me “homework”. It really was a great process because I could SEE how things I was doing were negatively impacting my life. Then being able to SEE how much different things are when I applied the tools that he gave me. It wasn’t just talking about how miserable I felt with someone who would validate my feelings. He really challenged me to change.
