Lower back injury

Morning All. How’s everyone doing?
I was stupidly steaming the sofa yesterday and felt something snap in my sacral area to the left and then severe pain. It was like a rubber band snapping if you know what I mean.
Still really bad today and can’t bend or do stairs. Anyone have any advice. Important meeting in the office tomorrow and no way I could go in.
Systemic Steroid shot really hasn’t worked well this time and lots of pain and cracking in shoulders, elbow, knee etc.

Sorry to hear, I know what those sudden interruptions in life are like. Sounds like a physicians diagnosis is in quick order and a scan to give the whole picture. Having had 3 severely herniated discs, I can relate with the pain. The one thing that you can do is find a way to stop the pain causing muscle spasms which causes pain cycle. The muscles tend to act like a splint and lock you up. That’s all I got…relax the muscles with hot or cold, find a neutral position in which pain eases off and don’t push it…time has a way of healing.

You need an xray at least to rule out any bone break, given the number of steroids you’re having instead of PsA meds. Sadly steroids can cause bones to weaken. I ended up with seven non accident related fractures. Doing not even something as strenous as steaming your sofa. Otherwise it’s likely you snapped a tendon or a ligament. But you need medical treatment to work out which. Best of luck.

Backs are just so ridiculously problematic sometimes. You should probably get checked at sooner than later. In the meantime, make sure that you’re using self-care measures.

I completely agree that you should likely have x-rays to rule out fractures. I’ve also had non-traumatic fractures with good bone density. Apparently. I can’t explain that one, but my specialty was fractures in my feet. I’m hoping it’s past tense because it has been a few years

Thanks so much for your replies and sorry to hear you’ve all had so many related issues. Makes me feel quite fortunate.
GP thinks it’s torn ligament or compressed disc so am taking diazepam, cocodamol and naproxen. Work is super stressful and I hate to be off sick but needs must. Am taking a couple of days to recuperate.
It’s also come to light that it seems I have megaloblastic anemia. Anyone else suffer with this?

Basically it’sa lack of B12 and/or folate isn’t it? Sadly really common in people with PsA. I’m on my second stint of daily folic acid for some similar issues, this time for 4 months. I hope your GP is prescribing you something to combat it?

Thanks Poo You’re right. I have low folate and same as you have been given 4 month supply. I thought I’d been feeling more tired than usual!!
Thanks for the advice
