Has anyone else experienced allergic reactions to Methotrexate, Humira, or Enbrel? I am Stelara now, getting ready for my 3rd injection, and I am still waiting for results. The Humira triggered very bad psoriasis, which has not calmed down with steroid injections and ointment… Just started low dose of Arava. Hoping for some good results!
I had a major allergic reaction from something in the Humira solution. Ended up in hospital with 80% of my body covered in large red welts.
I use to get a very small localized reaction to my Humiria injection like a hive. It would be red and raised after my injection and then fade to a tannish color by the time for my next injection. It made it easy to not inject in the same place. I never had any generalized or big reaction, I assume I was allergic to the preservative. And Humiria burned terribly when I injected it. I have also been on Simponi, Remicade and Enbrel twice without any allergy or pain. I alos inject mtx without any problems.
My 3rd Stelara injection is in March. I'm also on Arava. I've had zero results with the Stelara so far, thinking of not doing the 12 week injection and switching to something else.
The first time I took Enbrel I was itchy all over for about 8 hours. No welts or hives as such, just reddish skin all over and a very odd intense itch which kept me awake at night, and in hindsight I realised must have been a mild allergic reaction. I had great results so took some antihistamine and turned a blind eye.... next injection was just a swollen spot at the injection site and a bit of itching around it, which reduced to nothing at all within about 6 shots.
Marietta, are you on Avara because you are allergic to methotrexate? What dosage of the Stelara and Avara are you on? I am waiting for results too… My rheumatologist says the Stelara teases a long time to kick in…
Allan, that is awful… The Humira kick started horrible psoriasis for me… Have your welts healed? What are you on now?

It was about 18months ago and all good now. Back on Enbrel and doing well thanks
I had a severe reaction to methotrexate, included hives, edema in the lower legs, and difficulty breathing. Good times.
Chicken, what are you taking now? I had a horrible anaphylactic reaction to methotrexate, but have started a super low dose of Avara to see if it helps with the Stelara…
