A few questions

Hi TaraLynn

I can't comment much on your main symptoms because I am new to all this. What I can tell you about is Sleep Apnea. I have been using C-Pap for several years now. It changed my life for the better (until the PsA kicked in). Although home study machine can give an indication of your needs, nothing beats a true sleep study done in a controlled lab and fully wired up. I had 2 studies initially; 1 to diagnose, then 1 to determine correct pressure settings. I have one every 3 - 4 years just to check that I am on the correct pressure setting. Yes it is a pain in the ass, but my husband sleeps so much better and so do I. Every 6 months my Apnea nurse downloads the data from my memory card and sends it electronically to the Specialist which tells him what quality of sleep I am getting. My health fund covered the cost of my machine and I am looking to purchase a new one as my 5 year is up on this machine and I would like one of the new tiny ones that is perfect for traveling. Please make sure you get this checked out. The stress it puts on your body to not have your apnea controlled is massive. Good luck

Did my MTX injection last night and the nausea today is brutal! Maybe it's not the sulfasalazine after all. I also have a headache that is more a behind the eye headache.

Actually it could be the SSZ. The presence of the SSZ increases the effect of the MTX dramatically. The headache and nausea both are known side effects and can be serious. This one bears a call to your Doc sooner than later..............

We did talk about the increased nausea and doubled the folic acid. I have had the eye thing the day after the MTX in the past, however today when I woke up it was increased. It's a pressure behind my eyes kind of headache and the nausea increased after this mornings Sulfasalazine. I never knew the Sulfa increased the MTX.

Unfortunately it takes a few days for my rheumy to get back to me and my doctor is out of the office today and working in ER at the hospital across the water. I will leave a message with the receptionist at my rheumy's office.

Thanks Lamb, I called the pharmacist and she recommended taking a Tylenol for the headache portion and if it continues over the next few days then contact my doctor.

I kind of have the chicken or the egg syndrome - is the nausea causing the headache, or the headache causing the nausea? I feel it most when taking the meds as opposed to the flares. The dehydration thing is OUT OF CONTROL. Adds to the nausea/headache. I find apple juice works best for me.

Have added omeprazole daily whether I need it or not (developed Barrets esophagustoo - oh joy). Also added increased folic acid, and gummy vitamins. My PCP knows how over taking meds I am, but wanted to ensure I get the vitamins he wants in my daily routine. So he looked up what I needed and found the mixture in gummys for women. Haven’t missed a day yet because they make me smile when I take them.

I had to stop sulfasalazine due to nausea and headaches. My nausea seems to come from medications and not from flares.
