@tntlamb Sorry, have I got this right? Are you saying that MTX INCREASES rather than decreases something like ESR in the first month? Or have I completely misread what you have written? Are you saying that my sudden spike in ESR could actually have been down to the MTX I was taking in order to make the PsA better??
yes CRP is more often the one to go up and more studied, as it is more sensitive but a temporary increase in ESR is not unusual.
And there was me worrying why it had rocketed. Hardly surprising given what you have said, an infection my leg (which seems to be getting worse), and PsA flaring! Thanks for the info
Sorry to hear about the leg infection darinfan (hopefully that can be cleared up quickly!!) also sorry to hear the PsA is flaring!!! Gosh, this darn thing seems to get more interesting (please read as more complicated lol) every day.
I do hope it all starts picking up for you very soonly!!!
Thanks. I have to have a blood test tomorrow and so will get the leg looked at again then. It doesn’t look too bad, but for some reason the skin around the wound is inflamed, but I have a feeling its because of the antibiotic cream i am putting on. I think it’s possibly irritating it. We shall see. Hopefully I’ll live!
Hi there darinfan How did you get on with your blood test and leg? All OK?
The leg is finally on the mend. The ESR has come down to 42 from 83 in 2 weeks, which is good for me. But now the CRP has shot up to 91! I think they are on either end of a seesaw!
But they only started the CRP tests this summer so it’s hard for me to evaluate them as I was on steroids then too, so it’s not like I have an idea what it was like when the arthritis was bad. So I have to go by the ESR and presume that it halving means I am not on my way out yet!
I’m pleased to hear your leg is on the mend!! There is enough to contend with without those extra things life throws at us out of the blue
I’m finding it interesting following the ESR and CRP levels… Also good to know they can drop so quickly (nearly halve in 2 weeks) will certainly be watching my results and seeing if they seem to run concurrent with symptoms at all.
Best of luck!!
